Homemade Fudgesicles

I’ve been hearing on the news that many of the states in the lower 48 are in the grips of a heatwave – with temperatures in the 80’s, 90’s and even 100’s. That’s pretty darn warm!

I guess you could say that, here in Alaska, we are in the grips of a heatwave of our own. Not with temperatures as high as the ones in the lower 48, but high for Alaska standards. Our high temperatures for the past week have been in the upper 60’s and low 70’s. I can almost hear my readers chuckling to themselves and saying, “That’s not very warm”, but if you can believe it, I’ve actually overheard several people around here complaining that it is too hot. 🙂

No matter how hot it is in your neck of the woods, these Homemade Fudgesicles should help cool you off. They are the perfect chocolaty frozen treat for hot summer days like these.

~Enjoy~

Homemade Fudgesicles

2 cups milk
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a medium saucepan, combine milk, cocoa powder, sugar, corn syrup and vanilla. Whisk frequently over medium heat until mixture comes to a simmer. Cook just until all of the sugar and cocoa powder is dissolved.

Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Give mixture a whisk and pour into popsicle molds. Freeze overnight.

Makes 6-8 fudgesicles.

  1. We’re having unusually high temperatures here on the Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee. Could you please send a dozen of these yummy fudgesicles to help us deal with the heat?

    • I’d love to George, but I can’t guarantee that they would look like they do in the picture when they arrived. They’d probably look a little more like chocolate milk. 🙂

  2. My kids are going to be so happy! 🙂

  3. This recipe sounds great – and yes it is too hot for me, as we almost hit 80 degrees up here today. Now I just have to find my darned molds. I know they are around here somewhere . . . 🙂

  4. Does that ever look good! We were hot here today too, nearly 80!
