We’re Having a Heat Wave – Alaska Style

weather forecast

I’m so sorry I haven’t been around for the past couple of weeks, but after what seemed like a never-ending Winter, we are now having fantastic Spring weather. The temperatures have been in the low to mid 70’s for the past couple of weeks, and it’s looking like next week is shaping up to be more of the same, with temperatures climbing even higher – possibly into the 80’s. The following Special Weather Statement was released a few hours ago by the National Weather Service:

Needless to say, I haven’t been doing any baking because it’s been so warm. For the most part, I’ve just been spending a lot of time outside, soaking up as much sunshine and vitamin D as possible before this beautiful weather disappears. As soon as that happens, I’ll be back to baking and posting more often. 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

After soaking in all the wonderful sights at the market, we’ll now take a stroll through a small part of downtown Anchorage…

Just a short distance from the market, we are greeted by these incredibly cute bears in their “Bear Air” airplane.

The Delaney Park Strip is a popular downtown spot where people get together for a variety of community events, sports and festivals. It is also host to the Veteran’s Memorial. On this day, a gentleman was sitting on a park bench flying this big, beautiful kite. It flew high and proud over the Veteran’s Memorial.

It certainly was a good day to fly a kite

That’s all for now. Thank you so much for joining me on the tour!! We’ll have to do this again sometime.

Playing Tourist – Part 1

What a difference a week makes. Last weekend it snowed, but this weekend is turning out to be absolutely gorgeous. The sky is blue, the sun is shining, and the temperature is hovering close to 70 degrees.

I decided to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather yesterday, by heading to downtown Anchorage and taking a walk along the coastal trail and through the weekend market. With camera in hand, I decided I would play tourist and take a bunch of photos to share with you. (Note: you can click on any picture to view a larger version)
