Crescent Moon

Crescent Moon

Crescent Moon

Last week we had beautiful weather, with clear blue skies and high temperatures of 40+ degrees. The huge amount of snow that we received on March 25th was finally melting, and it really started to look and feel like Spring around here. I even saw pussy willows starting to emerge on some of the trees. It was wonderful!

It was during one of these warm and sunny mornings that I snapped this picture of the crescent moon hovering above the Chugach Mountain range. This picture was taken about 6:30AM, just a half hour or so before the sun was to rise above the same mountain range.

It was a lovely week, but I guess Winter decided it was not quite finished with us yet, because yesterday the clouds rolled in and we received another 6 to 8 inches of snow on the ground. It is currently 23 degrees, but the wind is blowing, which is making it feel much cooler out.

Oh Spring, Where Art Thou???

  1. I certainly hope Spring didn’t get lost on its way to Alaska. Your photo of the moon is gorgeous.

    • Thanks, George. I think Spring is taking the scenic route up to Alaska this year. That must be why it’s taking so long to arrive. 🙂

  2. You did an outstanding job of capturing the moon!

  3. Great photo. I’m sorry you’re having such a long winter. I just heard from friends in Europe, complaining about yet another snowfall, so you’re not alone. But spring has to come soon. This is April!!

    • I sure hope Spring is just around the corner! I’m very ready to welcome it as soon as it arrives. 🙂

  4. That’s sure a pretty shot! I guess winter is not through with you yet!

  5. Beautiful! Wonderful photo of the Chugach mountain range. Spring temps will be there before you know it. We just got a glimpse of spring temps here yesterday, 70’s , but by weekend will be avg 50’s.

    • I’d love to have temps in the 70’s, or even 50’s. 🙂 Right now it is 17 degrees outside, but we’re supposed to get up to 30 today. 🙂
