It’s been clear, cold, and beautiful here for the past couple of weeks, and the morning and evening skies have been absolutely gorgeous. The high temperature has only been around 10 degrees, but it’s worth stepping outside into the frigid cold when you can capture photos like these.

I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather for the past few days, and unfortunately I haven’t had the energy to bake any new treats. So instead of posting a recipe today, I thought I would “treat” you to a photo of a beautiful Alaska October sunrise.

Now this is the way every Friday should begin – with a beautiful and colorful sunrise.
The sun rose this morning at 6:22AM and will set at 9:37PM tonight, giving us 15 hours and 15 minutes of daylight today. Our daylight hours will continue to increase through summer solstice on June 21st. At that time, we’ll have a little over 19 hours of daylight.
Some people complain about having difficulties going to sleep at night when the sun is still up and shining, but the long Spring & Summer days is one of the things I really enjoy about living in Alaska.
